Hi neighbors —
Six months into this president thing, and here’s what I’ve learned: Toluca Lake runs on people who show up, not because anyone makes them, but because that’s just what this community does.
You see it everywhere — group texts that light up the second someone needs a hand, neighbors grabbing a drink or walk, families turning out for the Turkey Trot every November. We’re a village in the city, and when one of us has a problem, we all feel it.
Which brings me to the Coaster.
Universal has officially announced that Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will officially open on September 16, soon to be a bucket-list stop for coaster fans everywhere. We’ve had a long, positive relationship with Universal — but let’s be honest, this coaster is disrupting the peace and quiet for many neighbors living in the scream zone.
Our board has kept public officials engaged, and it’s paying off: we now have support for noise resolution measures from the Greater Toluca Lake and Studio City Neighborhood Councils, plus an open letter from Supervisor Barger, which you can read below.
We’ve also lobbied Universal for a real conversation — they’ve responded, and a community meeting is set for September 30, 6:30–8pm, at a soundstage on their lot.
